A Midsummer Night's Dream - "Demetrius"
image image image image image

It was the fall of 2010. I was accepted to Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia but my family didn't have the money to send me out there yet so I deferred my acceptance until the spring 2011 semester. This allowed me to sign up for the Nevada County Performing Arts Guild's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. The creative director of PAG has cut the play into varying lengths and has also made a musical version. This performance was the musical version but I did not have a singing part.
There weren't enough older boys in the program so the directors asked if I would be willing to take on a male role. I was all for that! Male parts tend to be more fun and well-written so why not expand my acting chops and try it out? I'm not good at deepening my voice but I think I got the mannerisms right. I also looked the most Shakespeare with my long hair down but then I was forced to put it up when we performed for an audience... Those rehearsal pictures are the best, though (not up yet).
