The Crucible - "Mercy Lewis"
image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image

It was the summer of 2015. My mom and I were eating sandwiches at a local restaurant and we saw an advertisement saying a local theatre company was going to be performing The Crucible in the fall. I remembered reading it in high school so we looked up auditions and found out their last call was the upcoming Monday evening. I attended, realized I didn't actually remember the story even though I supposedly read it, was unable to give the director an answer when she asked if I had a character in mind who I would REALLY like to play, read for Marry Warren, and FREAKING KILLED IT!
And by that I mean, the director knew she wanted me but still had to see one more person for Mary. (She was out of town during the open calls but she had called the director saying she was interested or something...) I thought maybe I'd get Abby, but I was cast as Mercy Lewis. (Even though I was older than the girl up for Abby. :( [She was taller and looked better with the guy cast as John Proctor.])
I had a great experience, though. It was really fun to perform in the oldest theatre on the west coast and the dressing rooms are under the stage so that's cool. I had been stage crew for a play at that theatre before but most of my time was spent upstairs... They had also done a lot of construction since I was last there - a building was added behind the theatre and connected to the backstage. There are bathrooms, a shower, a storage room, and a larger waiting area now...
